Planning a Vow Renewal in Las Vegas
October 11, 2026 · Scheme Events

A vow renewal in Las Vegas can be anything you want it to be, and that is exactly what makes it worth planning well. There is no license to file and no ceremony script you have to follow. There is only one question: what does your marriage look like now, and how do you want to celebrate it?
The renewal we still measure everything against is Adrienne and Billie Joe Armstrong's Neon Museum vow renewal, twenty years after their 1994 wedding. Here is what it taught us.
Start with who you are now
Your wedding probably reflected a lot of people: parents, budgets, a guest list that kept growing. A renewal can reflect only the two of you. When Adrienne first reached out, she gave us two words, vintage grunge, and the whole celebration grew from there: mismatched furniture, lawn games, marquee letters and a relaxed night built around their real friends. Begin with a feeling rather than a format, and the details tend to follow.
The paperwork is simple
A vow renewal is a ceremony, not a legal event, so you will not need a marriage license or a filing with the county. That also means anyone you love can lead the ceremony. At the Armstrongs' renewal, close friend and Green Day bandmate Jason White officiated, and it meant more than any stranger reading a script ever could. If you are celebrating a first marriage in Las Vegas instead, our Las Vegas marriage license guide covers what the county needs.
Choose a setting that tells your story
Las Vegas gives renewal couples more range than almost any city. The Neon Museum boneyard suited a couple who wanted something glowing, storied and a little rebellious. Others want quiet. Springs Preserve offers real gardens ten minutes from the Strip, Eldorado Canyon trades the chapel for raw desert canyon, and Red Rock Resort handles a larger guest list with mountain views. Weigh the setting against your guest count and the season: a desert afternoon in July asks for a very different plan than an evening in October.
Let the party be the party
A renewal does not have to be a smaller, quieter echo of your wedding. It can be the celebration your wedding never had room for. After the Armstrongs' ceremony, the night moved to Beauty Bar downtown, with a taco cart, a shaved ice stand, hundreds of balloons and the band on stage. Plenty of couples keep the vows intimate and save the energy for the reception, and that split works beautifully.
Give yourselves time
We planned the Armstrong celebration in one month. It came together, but it is not the timeline we would recommend. Three to six months gives you room to secure the setting you want, book the vendors you love and enjoy the planning rather than racing it. If your date is tied to an anniversary, consider starting with the venue, since that is usually the first thing to book out.
How much help you need
A renewal usually fits one of two ways of working with us. If you already know the vision and want the day itself handled, day-of management keeps every vendor and moment on time. If you would like help shaping the concept, the setting and the guest experience, partial planning or full planning and design carries it from first idea to last dance. We will always tell you honestly which one your celebration actually needs.
