Scheme Wedding: Jacqueline and David

July 26, 2011 - written by Traci

We recently had the pleasure of working with the sweetest couple from Florida on their wedding day.  Jacqueline and David had their ceremony at Mix at the top of the Hotel at Mandalay Bay.  David posted the review below on WeddingWire about his experience working Scheme Events on the wedding day.

“I had a pretty crazy wedding in Las Vegas at Mix Restaurant on the 64th floor of Mandalay Bay with about 110 friends and family in attendance. Wedding day involved so many vendors, but went so well, that friends often say to me things like “wow you must have been a wreck on wedding day getting everything pulled together,” etc. I usually respond with “Know what I did on wedding day? Woke up late, called my groomsmen, went and played craps, watched some baseball, had lunch, then we all got ready and I got married.”

“Making the day go so worry free was Scheme. I contacted them a few months prior to the wedding for day-of coordination and hired them after just a few email exchanges as they seemed to know exactly what I needed done and with two of them on-site for the big day, it seemed like a much better option for me than the typical one-person shops since there were issues to attend to for both me and my wife, we were staying in different towers at Mandalay and of course getting us into the venue without seeing each other was important since we weren’t doing a first look.”

“Weeks prior to wedding day they had already gotten in touch with all of our vendors and introduced themselves to ensure there would be no communications issues or me needing to deal with vendors to make sure they’d work with Scheme in place of me for planning and details. They knew who needed to be where, when, what their responsibilities were, the order of all the events that day, what wedding party people needed to do what and when, and just the whole day’s flow.”

“We had Jacqueline and Traci working our wedding and they were right on time day-of. They had two way radios to ensure they were able to stay in contact with each other regardless of location on the property. They dealt with everything from the wedding attire arriving back from being pressed to helping me get my shoes shined since I had forgotten. They made sure the floral arrived, bouquets to the girls, boutonnieres for the guys, even helped us pin them on. They got us up to the venue without the boys and girls seeing each other and then from ceremony start through the end of the reception they had every body doing exactly what needed to be done and when. They also helped guests with anything they needed, made sure my wife got the cake she wanted in between making the rounds with the guests, took care of the wedding favors and everything else that came up that day.”

“Could not have done it without them.”

Congratulations, Jacqueline and David  and thank you for the glowing review!

NACE Experience! 2011

July 21, 2011 - written by Traci

The National Association of Catering Executives’ Experience! is a revolutionary conference that attracts professionals from every segment of the market, from caterers (on- and off-premise), event planners and designers, to photographers, florists and entertainers, to name a few. Scheme Events is honored to be attending again this year in Reno, Nevada. Our bags are backed and we’re looking forward to a great week of learning and networking. One speaker we are excited to hear from is Chef Jeff Henderson, an award-winning chef, motivational speaker, New York Times best-selling author and Food Network television personality, as he talks about his transition from prison life to becoming the executive chef of Café Bellagio in Las Vegas to running his own catering business, Posh Urban Cuisine. Scheme Events is most excited to try all the amazing food from Chefs all over the world! Check out some fun photos from last year’s event in Austin, Texas.

We look forward to sharing what we learn shortly after the conference.

Wedding Industry Professionals Association

July 19, 2011 - written by Traci

Recently, the Scheme Team went to Malibu for a Wedding Industry Professionals Association (WIPA) luncheon at the beautiful Church Estate Vineyards. We learned from a panel of top industry professionals,  including Rebecca Crumley of The Knot, Allison Kornberg-Walch, Dana LaRue aka Broke Ass Bride and Katrina Razavi of marriage.com.

Take a look below to see some of our favorite things from the day in Malibu.

A map of the vineyard was a must, as we did a lot of walking in those stilletos of ours!

We started the day off with a cocktail hour by the grapevines. Choices of a specialty cocktail and house wines were available.

Look at that view! Church Estates is literally right across the street from the ocean. Amazing.

We enjoyed music during the cocktail hour by Masa Music. Then it was off to the presnentation from the speakers.

Form Decor provided beautiful white chairs and couches for guests to sit on during the presentation. We loved the white pop with all the decor!

These stunning tents were provided by Raj Tents, which added a bright and vibrant color to the green grass and trees we were surrounded by not to mention the much needed shade from the warm California sun during the presnetation.

Each tablescape was beautiful. The linens were soft and unique, the menus were hand made and let’s not forget to tell you about the Truffles for dessert… so delicious! Food provided by the amazing, Good Gracious!

Yes, that is what you think it is… The Fry Girl herslef! She made fresh doughnuts for us on the spot with our choice of toppings. If you know the Scheme girls… you know we love our food and fresh mini doughnuts is a way to our hearts. Just looking at this picture makes our mouth water and want to road trip back to California!

We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to attend WIPA. We are looking forward to the next time we make it out to California to see all the amazing people that we met and to learn more from them!
