Meet The Girls: Courtney

December 7, 2020 - written by Tara

Las Vegas wedding planner

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Courtney grew up loving and participating in local community theater. Dancing, acting, and singing were some of her favorite things to do. This Vegas wedding planner actually started off with her BA in Social Work with an emphases on Child Welfare through the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. She spent the next nine years using that degree until being a part of people’s happiest days called out to her. Courtney jumped at the opportunity to get to use her theater background and her detail oriented style to help couples celebrate their love stories. She found herself enrolled and loving The International School of Hospitality where she received a certification in Wedding Coordination and Design. Courtney has dabbled in a little bit of everything wedding related from floral, decor, venue coordination, catering, and even Las Vegas Blvd Chapel life. At the end of the day Courtney enjoy’s being snuggled up on the couch with awesome husband Seth (another born and raised local) and their fun loving daughter Quinn.

Let’s play loaded questions with Tara…

What is your favorite recipe?

Jackie Potatoes! It isn’t a difficult recipe but it’s cheesy potatoes with a flakey crust that is all sorts of not good for you but hits the nail on the head for comfort food. Why the name Jackie potatoes you ask. Well, it was my grandma’s good friend Jackie’s recipe. So you have to give credit where credit is due! Three generations later we are still making Jackie’s potatoes.

On a weeknight, what could you be found watching?

That depends. If I’m sharing the TV with my hubs then it is most likely a movie (we are big movie buffs). If I get the TV to myself I am probably staying current on Grey’s Anatomy.

How did you earn your first dollar?

I was the Neighborhood Babysitter.

What is your adult beverage of choice?

If I’m feeling fancy, a glass of champagne, or my staple go to Pinot Noir wine. If I’m in need of a little extra kick, it’s going to be rum in Coke or whisky ginger.

Which is your most hated chore on the household chore list?

Hands down putting away clean clothes. Ugh it takes forever!

What do you think the secret to a good life is?

Laughter! Good communication. Taking time to enjoy the little moments. And filling your space with the ones you hold dearest to do those previous things with.

Who were you named after?

The name Courtney was one my mom read in a book. My middle name is Susanne, which was my mother’s mom’s name and I love it. In our family the first born girls middle name is her grandmother’s first name. My mother was named after hers. I was named after mine. And my daughter was named after my mom. So your first name is all yours and unique to you but your middle name carry’s a little something special.

Thank you to Amelia C & Co. and Susie and Will Photography for the above photo capturing our pure excitement.

Meet the Girls: Tara

Las Vegas wedding planner

Growing up in Southern California and Las Vegas, Tara loves the beach and the city life. This Las Vegas wedding planner earned her Bachelor Degree in Hotel Administration with a major in Meetings and Events Management through the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She continued her education through The International School of Hospitality receiving a certificate in Wedding Coordination and Design. Tara is a hospitality professional with wide-ranging experience in the events profession and customer service. She is ambitious, detail oriented and enjoys everything about the events industry. Although Tara loves visiting the World, Las Vegas is where her heart is with her husband Gabriel and two wonderful daughters.

Let’s play loaded questions with Tara…

What is your favorite recipe?

My favorite family recipe is my grandmother’s lemon cake. It is the cake I request for my birthday every single year.

On a weeknight, what could you be found watching?

This is Us, The Voice, Schitt’s Creek, The Crown

How did you earn your first dollar?

I won $100 in a karaoke contest singing Garth Brooks when I was 7 years old! Too bad I couldn’t earn $1 singing today.

What is your adult beverage of choice?

May I please have a Moscow Mule?

Which is your most hated chore on the household chore list?

I do love cleaning my house. The feeling of a clean home with a candle burning brings me peace. However, if I could eliminate a household chore, it would be cleaning baseboards.

What do you think the secret to a good life is?

Nurturing the relationships which mean most to you.

Who were you named after?

I was named after Tara of Gone With The Wind, given to me by my grandmother. My middle name is also Ashley.

Thank you to Amelia C & Co. and Susie and Will Photography for the above photo capturing our pure excitement.

Welcome to the Scheme Events blog!

Las Vegas wedding planners

Hi Schemers! We are pleased to welcome you to our Las Vegas wedding planning and design blog. You will find wedding etiquette, tips and advice, inspiration, featured weddings and sneak peeks into our lives as Las Vegas wedding planners. Courtney and I are so glad to have you along for the ride.

Scheme Events launched in 2010 and quickly became one of the top Las Vegas wedding planning companies. Our designs are often featured on sites such as MODWedding, Style Me Pretty, Ruffled, Love Inc., 100 Layer Cake and Green Wedding Shoes. We can also be seen in The Knot magazine, Layers of Luxe and Smitten magazine. Designing stylish weddings unique to our couples’ love story is just one of the ways we have set ourselves apart from other Las Vegas wedding planners. No two weddings are alike. One wedding season takes us from a candlelit nightclub to a Latin inspired desert, from a glamorous lakefront villa to a sophisticated theater, all with a sense of luxury and romance.

Scheme is humbled by the love and generosity of the Las Vegas wedding community and feels proud to be a part of it. We are involved with Wedding International Professional Association and Wish Upon a Wedding. Our decorated success includes our most recent award, Best Event Planner of Las Vegas, given by the Las Vegas Review Journal! Above all else, we are passionate about this incredible business called LOVE!

We thank our family, friends and local industry professionals who have supported us throughout the development of our business. Nothing would have been possible without your encouragement and kindness throughout this process. A huge appreciation goes out to our past, current and future couples who have trusted us to be their wedding planners and who have touched our lives with their love. We are extremely grateful!

Thank you to Amelia C & Co. and Susie and Will Photography for the above photo capturing our pure excitement.
