Planning this wedding I am about to share with you was truly an amazing experience. Melissa and Julius’ style is exquisite and right up my alley. I have been staring at these images since November and the longer I have taken to write this blog, the more amazing this wedding is to my eyes. You may have caught a glimpse into the wedding back in December with a video from Adam Trujillo Cinema (don’t worry… I posted it below too!). Pepper Nix nailed the photography for this wedding and I will walk you through all of the details little by little.
The amount of romance shown in these photos makes my heart sing. Melissa and Julius fell in love with Springs Preserve on their very first trip out to Las Vegas from New York City. There was something about the preserve that spoke to them. They didn’t feel like they were in Las Vegas, the amount of lush greenery throughout the spaces and the fact that their guests would have never expect something like Springs Preserve to be in Las Vegas is what they loved. Guests were dressed in black tie attire for this special day of theirs and let me tell you, everyone looked absolutely fabulous! On this warm and beautiful October day, Melissa and Julius said I do and partied the night away with their closest friends and family from all around.
Guests were greeted at the ceremony with tray passed champagne and water in the courtyard. This was the perfect touch to say “welcome” and get the party started. The band from Las Vegas Academy of the Arts played tunes while guests said hello, caught up and prepared for a very touching ceremony performed by Wanda Tracey. The band was a tribute to Julius’ grandfather who was an avid saxophone player. To say thank you and that they were thinking of him on their special day, they dedicated a very special song mid ceremony to him.
Melissa envisioned touches of green and white mixed with the neutral colors at Springs Preserve, so we took her color palette, added grey and made sure to rock her world when it came to the design and floral pieces. Catherine at Layers of Lovely nailed the floral! Everything from Melissa’s bouquet with hints of succulents (thats for the desert) to each and every reception centerpiece were carefully thought out with the bride in mind. Bringing the outside in and creating tall centerpieces on the round tables filled with greenery color coordinated with the green flooring inside the cafe in Springs Preserve. Long square tables were draped in beautiful ruffled linens from Nuage and accented with long leaf runners and flower buds.
Guests were treated to a delicious family style meal from Divine Events that as complete with cajun shrimp and grits, truffled mac and cheese, grilled Mexican corn and so much more! The food options did not stop there though. Peridot Sweets created a beautiful and yummy naked cake that was exactly what Melissa had wanted from day one and for a late night surprise treat: Sweet Addiction arrived with delicious miniature ice cream sandwiches that were hand dipped for each guest.
The party didn’t stop there, dear friend of Melissa’s, DJ Kiss spun music all night long for everyone to dance to. Melissa changed into a female’s shirt dress take on a tuxedo and danced the night away with her best friend and now husband, Julius.
