A Backup Plan!

March 30, 2016 - written by Tara

Two words… must have! It is essential to have a back up plan when you plan and design your wedding in Las Vegas. Rarely do we have to use it, but it allows everyone to sleep at night should we need it. Although spring temperatures in Las Vegas can be gorgeous, our winds can uproot trees! Summer months are hot to begin with, but when we reach a scorching 120 degrees, your guests will burn and dehydrate. Fall is the best time of year in our city, but watch for rain. Weather is the one thing that is completely out of our control. Simply put, have a backup plan.

If you’re planning and designing your wedding in an outdoor venue with a lack of indoor back up space, budget for a tent. Do some research and collect pricing based on your location and guest count. In most cases, you can make the final decision on the tent the week of your wedding. The tent will protect the design you’ve created with little change. However, take into consideration lighting, draping and layout underneath a tent.

If you’re planning and designing your wedding in an outdoor venue with an indoor back up space, visit the indoor space and have it in mind throughout the planning process. Will your ascetic look ok in the indoor space? Can your bistro lighting be switched out for uplighting? Will your floor plan fit into a rectangular ballroom? When the final decision has to be made two days before your wedding day, you won’t have to scramble to come up with a new design. Check out www.vogueballroom.com.au to find a wedding venue that caters for any taste.

Ultimately, consider yourself a guest at your wedding. Does being under the stars with a candlelit dinner really matter when the wind blows your salad off your plate before its set down in front of you, or the rain drenches your new dress and creates a slip and slide on the dance floor. It sucks, we know. We’ve invested a lot of time and emotion into your wedding as well, but at the end of the day you still get to marry your best friend, rain or shine.

Springs Preserve Wedding: Melissa & Julius

March 23, 2016 - written by Traci

Planning this wedding I am about to share with you was truly an amazing experience. Melissa and Julius’ style is exquisite and right up my alley. I have been staring at these images since November and the longer I have taken to write this blog, the more amazing this wedding is to my eyes. You may have caught a glimpse into the wedding back in December with a video from Adam Trujillo Cinema (don’t worry… I posted it below too!). Pepper Nix nailed the photography for this wedding and I will walk you through all of the details little by little.

The amount of romance shown in these photos makes my heart sing. Melissa and Julius fell in love with Springs Preserve on their very first trip out to Las Vegas from New York City. There was something about the preserve that spoke to them. They didn’t feel like they were in Las Vegas, the amount of lush greenery throughout the spaces and the fact that their guests would have never expect something like Springs Preserve to be in Las Vegas is what they loved. Guests were dressed in black tie attire for this special day of theirs and let me tell you, everyone looked absolutely fabulous! On this warm and beautiful October day, Melissa and Julius said I do and partied the night away with their closest friends and family from all around.

Guests were greeted at the ceremony with tray passed champagne and water in the courtyard. This was the perfect touch to say “welcome” and get the party started. The band from Las Vegas Academy of the Arts played tunes while guests said hello, caught up and prepared for a very touching ceremony performed by Wanda Tracey. The band was a tribute to Julius’ grandfather who was an avid saxophone player. To say thank you and that they were thinking of him on their special day, they dedicated a very special song mid ceremony to him.

Melissa envisioned touches of green and white mixed with the neutral colors at Springs Preserve, so we took her color palette, added grey and made sure to rock her world when it came to the design and floral pieces. Catherine at Layers of Lovely nailed the floral! Everything from Melissa’s bouquet with hints of succulents (thats for the desert) to each and every reception centerpiece were carefully thought out with the bride in mind. Bringing the outside in and creating tall centerpieces on the round tables filled with greenery color coordinated with the green flooring inside the cafe in Springs Preserve. Long square tables were draped in beautiful ruffled linens from Nuage and accented with long leaf runners and flower buds.

Guests were treated to a delicious family style meal from Divine Events that as complete with cajun shrimp and grits, truffled mac and cheese, grilled Mexican corn and so much more! The food options did not stop there though. Peridot Sweets created a beautiful and yummy naked cake that was exactly what Melissa had wanted from day one and for a late night surprise treat: Sweet Addiction arrived with delicious miniature ice cream sandwiches that were hand dipped for each guest.

The party didn’t stop there, dear friend of Melissa’s, DJ Kiss spun music all night long for everyone to dance to. Melissa changed into a female’s shirt dress take on a tuxedo and danced the night away with her best friend and now husband, Julius.

Wedding Industry Professionals Association Las Vegas

March 16, 2016 - written by Rissa

You may remember quite a while back, WIPA (Wedding Industry Professionals Association) launched in Las Vegas and we were thrilled to organize, design and execute the inaugural event at Four Seasons.  Angela Desveaux of WedLuxe was our speaker and she was fascinating — telling us the ins and outs of running the most beautiful bridal show and bridal magazine in the world.  Yes, the world.  Have you seen the blog, magazine and bridal show??  They are UNREAL.  Here’s a bit of a reminder from our launch event in September 2014.

2014-10-09_0003

WIPA had a successful year connecting wedding professionals in Las Vegas.  In February of this year, a new WIPA Board was installed and I am thrilled to be participating as the Vice President.  I’m extremely passionate about the wedding industry and believe there is so much room for growth, education, connection and development in our market.  And I have a firm belief that WIPA is the place for professional, creative and reliable vendors to meet together and discuss the improvement of weddings in Las Vegas.  It attracts high quality vendors that are interested in producing high quality weddings — whatever the look.  Some vendors specialize in rustic weddings, some in romantic weddings, some in modern wedding, others in traditional weddings.  What matters most is that the men and women behind the flowers, gowns, invitations and food service are interested in bettering him/herself and contributing to raising the bar in Las Vegas weddings.  This is where it’s going to happen.  I’m going to do everything I can to make it happen.  And there is an entire Board of dynamite professionals committed  to the cause.  This is WIPA!
