Las Vegas Outdoor Wedding: Elizabeth & Glen

November 21, 2013 - written by Rissa

I first met Elizabeth about 5 months before her Las Vegas outdoor wedding.  We met in our office where she told me her wedding colors were grey and yellow.  Hello…have we met?  We love grey and yellow!  We chatted for over an hour about her style, the vision she had for her wedding and her awesome celebrity wedding name.  Elizabeth’s second half is Glen.  Formed together they are known as “Glizdon.”  At this first meeting, Elizabeth showed me pictures of her fathers house where the wedding would be held.  Having your best friends (and bridesmaids) help you get ready for your wedding in your childhood bedroom has a sentimental feeling that nothing can beat.

We spent the next five months creating a Las Vegas wedding that was centered around all things food, family and awesome friendship.  Both members of Glizdon are marketing gurus, which is pretty fantastic when it comes to graphic design, artwork, stationery and overall concepts for a wedding.  They had designed a monogram that incorporates a G & E and used throughout the wedding in invitations, place settings and even the candles that played double duty as favors and decor.

On the wedding day, guests arrived and were greeted with a cocktail of choice.  The drinks were created by a personal friend and each inspired by a favorite city Glen had lived in previously.  Glen is something of a Bruce Springsteen aficionado; the entire pre-ceremony cocktail hour consisted of Springsteen songs carefully crafted by the groom (I may or may not be listening to the playlist as I write this blog!).

A large cast iron bell was rung and signals for guests to take their poolside seats for the ceremony.  Glizdon exchanged vows and rings under marquee E&G letters.  Following the ceremony guests enjoyed drinks and small bites.  The large cast iron bell rings again and everyone moved from the pool house to the orchard where they were greeted by a royal style dinner table over 100 feet long dotted with candle light and bud vases of floral.  Guests found their seats and enjoyed a meal of farm to table cuisine served in a mix of tapas and family style.

More than once (or twice or three times) a vendor says to me, “Wow.  If I could have any wedding, THIS is what I would want my wedding to be like!”  I know it.  This couple has serious style.  Pictures tell a beautiful story, but video introduces an entirely new emotional element with laughter, tears and smiles for miles.  See for yourself below!

Wedding Words

November 20, 2013 - written by Traci

When the time comes that a couple begins to plan their wedding day they’re sure to run into some terminology they’re unfamiliar with. We’ve received some of the same questions throughout the planning process and thought it would be fun and helpful to our brides and grooms to begin blogging about “Wedding Words”.

Let’s start with a little help for the groom-to-be! The engagement ring was a tradition started by the Archduke Maximilian of Austria who gave Mary of Burgundy a simple gold band set with a diamond when he asked for her hand in marriage. The diamond has since then become the symbol of love and couples today are met with endless possibilities in selecting the perfect ring!

Setting –
also known as ‘blank’ or ‘mounting’, is the part of the ring that holds the diamond in its place, these come in prongs or bezels.

Pavé –
a group of accent diamonds on the band set closely together revealing very little metal.

Inclusion –
while a ‘blemish’ is an impurity on the outside surface of the diamond, this is an impurity inside the stone commonly caused from the Earth

Good luck fellas! Whether you’re choosing a ring with the help of your future wife or scheming up a complete surprise, remember to make it a fun shopping experience. She is sure to love any ring you give her when you pop the question!
