There is so much to think about during the weeks leading up to your wedding, we suggest preparing for your honeymoon as early as possible.  Here are some quick tips to remember while getting things ready for your first trip as husband and wife.

  • Call your hotel or resort and double confirm your reservations.  Tell them it is your honeymoon and ask if they have any specials or upgrades available.
  • If you are going out of the country, make sure you get your passport renewal done.  Give yourself some time if you are ordering a new passport, as they can take up to 10 weeks to arrive.
  • Call your bank and/or credit card company and let them know when and where you will be traveling.
  • Check the weather for the place and time of year you will be traveling, so you can pack the appropriate clothing.
  • If you are leaving within days after the wedding, try and have everything packed and ready to go before the weekend of your wedding.  It is going to be a fun and busy time with family and friends, and you don’t want to be worrying about all of the things you still have to do before you leave.
  • Some people say to write your thank you notes on the plane.  We say that can wait (up to a year according to wedding etiquette)!  Enjoy your time together as newlyweds on your honeymoon and leave any type of “work” for when you return.
