We wish all of our Schemers a happy and safe 4th of July!  It’s one of our favorite holidays.  Fireworks, boating, red, white and blue…what’s not to love?!

Here’s a bit about how each of the Scheme Girls celebrates Independence Day.

“The Fourth of July is a big deal in my world.  Right up there with Christmas.  I love the summertime, bbq’s, fireworks and family gatherings but I’m also a huge supporter of men and women serving in the military.  I really feel a duty to show support and celebrate our freedom.

I grew up attending our local Freedom Festival–it’s a few days of celebrating with a parade, fairgrounds, community activities and ends with The Stadium of Fire which is a huge fireworks show and concert usually featuring a country star.  My favorite year was when Carrie Underwood was the headliner; she’s darling!”

Growing up, Fourth of July was a great time to celebrate with family. My Grammy and Papa hosted a block party every year. Streets were blocked off, volleyball games were played in the street, hot dogs and hamburgers were served, kids were dressed in red, white and blue and entertainment and karaoke happened throughout the night. The entire neighborhood and their families laughed and celebrated our independence all day long. My favorite memory was when the kids would collect donations for the fireworks display. It was always a huge production, probably why I love the Las Vegas Strip Firework Show.

When I was little, Fourth of July was one of my favorite holidays! We would spend time together as a family and head to our country club’s clubhouse area to watch the major firework production they put on. I am pretty sure we did this every year until I was in college. It was so much fun to just spend one night together in the hot humid air! I still to this day look to see if I have availability to make it home for the fourth every year… then I remember how it is to be in 90% humidity and change my mind (kidding!). This Fourth of July I will be spending in the sun and with my boyfriend’s family most likely watching the amazing Green Valley Ranch fireworks from my driveway (I have a great view of them!).

What are some of your favorite Fourth of July memories growing up or today? We would love to hear them!

Happy 4th of July!
